From the Orchestra Conductor
Soil has an image problem. To describe something as “soiled” or “dirty” is to imply that it has been ruined in some way or is worse or less valuable, at least until it is cleaned. This is a strange way to talk about something that we know cognitively, is one of the essential cornerstones of our existence: brimming with life as the single most biodiverse habitat on the planet. The Swiss soil orchestra aims to address this contradiction between knowledge and emotion. by finding ways for artists to convert the factual knowledge of scientists into forms that capture the attention and imagnation of the general public. To operationalise this collaboration, we need to work together to find the messages that we want to convey and to find the resources that the artists need.
