Finnish Soil Orchestra

From the Orchestra Conductor

As Orchestra Conductor of the Finnish Soil Orchestra within SOILSCAPE, LUT aims at creating a safe and inspiring space where people can meet, share ideas, and build relationships through concrete, multisensory actions. It’s about working for and with a community that thrives on collaboration, artistic expression, and meaningful communication—especially when our goal is to make a real change in how we relate to soil and each other. Our strength lies in connectedness and relationality: through visits, shared work, and open dialogue, we grow ideas into action and connect diverse actors across fields. We warmly invite organizations that value community, creativity, and hands-on impact to join our orchestra—let’s build a fertile ground for transformation together.

Humus Campaign

Humus Campaign is a Finnish grassroots initiative that promotes increasing soil humus as a civic skill to fight climate change. It encourages practices like composting, worm boxes in kindergartens and sustainable soil management to boost soil carbon and biodiversity. The campaign organizes workshops, educational materials and community “Humus Circles” to spread knowledge and make caring for living soil part of everyday life.
