From the Orchestra Conductor
At a time when soil is at the centre of an ecological and cultural crisis, the Italian Soil Orchestra was created as an artistic, scientific and social initiative that combines performance and education to implement concrete actions.
It is an interdisciplinary, open and non-competitive collective that aims to make the soil “play”: the orchestra is both a metaphor (the earth as a living, vibrating organism) and an experiential practice, because participants listen to, touch and even taste the earth, transforming sounds, smells and textures into music and storytelling.
The Italian Soil Orchestra is a space for discussion and training: a generative community that inspires policies, education and new practices of regeneration.
